Bought my xxxHolic DVD #3 the other day which came with the limited soudntrack to the anime series not avaliable anywhere else! LOVE IT! My quick rating is 4.5 stars for the soundtrack!

Just thought I'd throw my two cents in.

Chibi Uuto's Chronicles (a great news blog which I view daily) has posted how the official site suggests a second season. But from what I can see it talks about the season finale (Episode 23) and then says even though the season is finished, xxxHolic is not over.

I can see how this could be taken as meaning a second season is coming, but surely if it was they would have simply said so. It could also simply be refering to the manga which is still ongoing. Personally I think there may be another Tsubasa/xxxHolic joint movie somewhere in late 2007 after the third season of Tsubasa Chronicle finishes airing to conclude both series.

The website could also just being sappy and maybe means that xxxHolic will live on in our hearts even though the show is over.

I'm really hoping for a second season, but currently one hasn't bean announced.

I couldn't have been more happy with this episode. The animation was simply stunning and the direction unique in so many different ways (loved that talking scene between Mokona and Yuko with the viewer only being shown the front of the boat they were riding on). The music was as beautiful as always and the story so incredibly tragic as it concluded the kind woman arc from Episode 22 but also very nostalgic as it drew the series to a close by coming full circle but also evolving the relationships between almost all the main characters; Watanuki now has more courage to talk to Himawari, he now has a greater respect for Domeki, Yuko and Watanuki seem a lot more like family now (as do the hyper mascots) and that last shot where we get to see Yuko's shop from the perspective of a client was really inspirational. What a great idea to finish the series on!!!

This episode was the season finale and was always planned as such. Episode 24 (next week) is a kind of bonus episode that was originally meant for the final DVD release but they decided to air it most likely to the popularity of the series.

From the preview it looks like it will be a combination episode using the ghostly childhood friend and the creepy hands (that are in the opening credits!) from the manga.

On a slightly different note, the other day I was flipping through some anime magazines here in Tokyo and found a picture of the xxxHolic cast, Yuko, Wata, Domeki, Himawari, Mokona, Maru and Moro as well as the pipe fox spirit celebrating hanami (cherry blossom viewing). This wasn't in the preview, but I'm guessing it may be in next weeks episode as well. Maybe.

I think this may be the best xxxHolic episode of the season! It was perfect in every way! It was a great idea to use this story with the lady as a two parter leading up to the finale in Episode 24. It's sad, dramatic and offers a more serious insight into Watanuki's childhood and homelife than the last episode did.

Speaking of homelife, we got a proper look at the exterior of his building and it is indeed the same one that the main character from Kobato (another new CLAMP series current;y running) lives in. I would love for Kobato to make a little guest appearance like the Legal Drug guys did Episode 6. One can hope.

I loved the music in this episode. Spotted a few new tracks here and there as well as the usual bgm from previous episodes. I can't wait for the limited edition third DVD which comes with the soundtrack. Got a feeling I'll be listening to it non-stop.

The animation... the best we've seen in this season. The visuals of the ume (plum) blossoms falling (not Sakura people, they fall in spring and look different) were simply beautiful.

The script was great and really portrayed the tragedy of both main characters and led up to a heartstopping cliffhanger that had me on the edge of my seat and I've read this arc in the manga!!!

When all the episodes have aired, I'll be writing a top 5 episode list and you can bet that this will be on it.

Please note that I'm 100% certain when it comes to all of these crossovers in this episode. Several of the ones mention on ANN for example are completely wrong. It's Fay's staff, not Yukito's for example.

This is getting confusing. Chibiyuuto has posted that those two rumoured food related episode titles were false and that the final episode title is Recollection. However there seems to be a numbering messup as "Temptation" (21) was the recently aired episode featuring the nail clippers with next week, (22) being "Choice" which will feature the ghostly woman.

But Chibiyuuto lists "Temptation" as being the first part of the ghostly woman and has it listed as episode 22 which just isn't the case.

In trying to wrap my head around this I've edited the list on the right with the new episode titles but now only up to episode 23 which I think is the final.

Will keep you posted on any new news I get.

In my attempt to explore xxxHolic and Tsubasa connections, I've done a review of Magic Knight Rayearth II #1. A must read for any CLAMP fan and rather relevant for xxxHolic and Tsubasa fans! Enjoy!

This was a rather interesting insight into several Japanese wife's tales covering untied shoes, clipping nails at night (this was taken from the manga) and cooking beef incorrectly. Not a bad episode but not great either. I will say though that I lost a bit of respect for Watanuki after seeing his homelife this week. Seriously I love it when he's at Yuko's and the school scenes are interesting but if all he does at home is cook and read manga and laugh about how interesting the manga is (even after time passes) I would rather we not see any more of Watanuki's appartment for a while. Unless of course his neighbours, Kobato and Chitose drop by. That would be worth seeing.

Next week we see the friendly woman spirit arc.

I should note that Episode 22 was originally intended to be the final episode for the season/show with 23 and 24 being exclusive episodes released only on the final DVD.

For some reason (hopefully because the show has become more popular and they're thinking about a second season) the powers that be have decided to air these two episodes on tv.

What their stories will be is anyone's guess. We'll find out in the preview after next week's episode.

I really digged this episode. It featured the photo arc from the recently released xxxHolic #7 and combined it with the Valentines Day parts that weren't included in Episode 11. While a bit strange to repeat a manga story that had already been used, it makes sense as now the xxxHolic anime crosses over more easily with the Tsubasa anime series.

The photo parts were well done though I was suprised at the speed it was concluded at. There was also a noticable ommission of the spider arc aspects which I'm guessing they'll use in the second season (if there is one). Honestly not enough episodes to deal which that rather big event that happens concerning the spider in the remaining few episodes.

Next week looks to finally feature the nail clipping mini-arc from the manga. Should be interesting. Only four more episodes to go!!!
